Bird of the Year

Each year the Armenian Society for the Protection of Birds announces a Bird of the Year through a public voting campaign in Armenia since 2009. The voting opens towards the end of each year and closed in January of the following year.

Educating people is one of the key components of ASPB’s conservation work in Armenia. To raise the public estimation of our biological resources and birds in particular, ASPB organizes multiple public events and national campaigns.

Key selection criteria:

- Shall be recognizable

- Common and easy to see

- In need of conservation action

The aim of this campaign is to raise the national estimation of our natural resources and birds in particular by choosing a specific bird species and heightening a public interest towards the need for its protection.
