There are about 26 Threatened Species of the IUCN Red List in Armenia. All of these are of conservation concern and for most there is insufficient data available on their populations to determine their current population status.
Among these are species for which records are available from as early as the beginning of the 20 century (e.g. Houbara Bustard or Red Kite) and their datasets need to be updated. Some occur sporadically and at such low numbers that it is not possible to protect them at site level (e.g. Saker Falcon, Black-tailed Godwit).
At the same time, there are species for which site-based approach is needed and should be integrated into conservation measures.
