On 28th and 29th of April Armenian Society for the Protection of Birds organised another meetings with schooldren from different regions of Armenia.
With the same mission on April 29 in a cooperation and support of Aparan Aarhus Center (5 years in a row) ASPB also visited the pupils of Aparan High School.
Spring Alive aim to encourage children’s interest in nature and the conservation of migratory birds and to get them to take action for birds and other wildlife as well as to participate in events organized by BirdLife Partners.
"Bird of the Year" educational program began in 2009 and has certain aim - is to raise the national estimation of our natural resources and birds in particular by choosing a specific bird species and heightening a public interest towards the need for its protection.
Participants were informed about the five species of Spring - Barm Swallow, Common Swift, White Stork, Common cuckoo and European Bee-eater. The aim was to increase the interest among schoolchildren, adults and nature lovers toward our feathered friends.
All children, their parents and teachers were offered to participate in observing the return of migratory birds, which will let to create an actual map of their journey.
The children were also informed about the contests within the Spring Alive Program:
Lots of interesting facts about the symbol of 2015 year - European Roller - were presented to the pupils. In the end of the visit a quiz took place and the best participants were awarded with promotional gifts. Also, our staff members spoke about the Drawing Contest within the framework of "Bird of the Year" educational program.
