From 1 to 10 September, Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii (United States of America), hosted the world’s largest conservation event – the 2016 IUCN World Conservation Congress – organized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Council.
Held every four years, the Congress brings together leaders from government, the public sector, non-governmental organizations, business, UN agencies and indigenous and grass-roots organizations to discuss and decide on solutions to the world’s most pressing environment and development challenges.
As a member of IUCN, Armenian Society for the Protection of Birds was honored to attend the Congress as well. Our organization highly values the importance of promoting and demonstrating leadership on global environmental issues, so we believe that our voice can make positive changes on our planet.
We were lucky to present Armenia and its world of birds at the Congress. Our publications attracted delegation members from various countries. We hope that in this way we would help congress participants to discover the nature of Armenia, its flora and fauna.
